Eliminating Operational Bottlenecks Across a Global Enterprise — Without Growing Headcount

Industry: Banking / Financial Services

Scope: Enterprise-wide workflow modernization across operations, audit, finance, compliance, and branch functions for a large, distributed banking organization

Problem

A large banking organization operating across a wide branch network and multiple business functions relied heavily on manual, email-driven, and spreadsheet-based workflows to manage critical operational processes. These workflows spanned areas such as audit, compliance, finance, approvals, and branch operations.

As the organization scaled, these fragmented processes created systemic inefficiencies. Lack of structured tracking reduced visibility into workflow status, delayed coordination across teams, and increased turnaround times for business-critical activities. Reporting required manual consolidation of data from multiple systems, further increasing operational overhead and reducing decision-making speed.

In addition, dependence on vendor-driven platforms limited flexibility and slowed the ability to adapt to evolving regulatory and business requirements. The organization lacked a unified development approach to build and scale internal solutions quickly while maintaining governance, security, and compliance.

The core challenge was to modernize enterprise workflows at scale by establishing a governed, scalable platform that could enable rapid solution development, improve operational visibility, and reduce dependency on fragmented systems.

Solution

To address these challenges, Futran designed and implemented an enterprise-scale low-code transformation strategy using Microsoft Power Platform, anchored by a centralized Power Platform Centre of Excellence (CoE).

The transformation began by establishing a unified platform for application development and workflow automation, replacing fragmented tools and manual processes with standardized, scalable solutions. The Power Platform enabled rapid development of business applications while maintaining enterprise-grade governance and security controls.

A dedicated CoE was implemented to define development standards, governance frameworks, and reusable engineering practices. This ensured consistency, compliance, and scalability across all applications while enabling teams to build solutions aligned with enterprise policies.

The platform was supported by a structured application lifecycle management (ALM) framework, enabling controlled deployment, versioning, and monitoring of applications across environments. Centralized visibility into applications and workflows was achieved through CoE tooling, allowing the organization to manage usage, performance, and compliance effectively.

Reusable component libraries and standardized integration patterns were developed to accelerate solution delivery and reduce duplication. Secure integrations with enterprise systems were enabled through Azure Functions and network-level controls, ensuring seamless connectivity across business processes.

To drive adoption at scale, the organization enabled a governed citizen development model. Business users were empowered to build solutions within controlled environments, supported by training programs, internal communities, and structured onboarding frameworks.

By combining platform standardization, governance, and scalable development practices, the organization transitioned from fragmented, manual workflows to a unified, enterprise-grade digital operations model.
